MET ÉIREANN has issued a Status Orange fog warning for counties across the country.
The warning covers all of Connacht and Leinster as well as counties Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.
It was was put in place at midnight and is in place until noon.
Motorists are being advised to take extra care while on the roads this morning – to drive slow and use their fog lights.
Outlook
According to Met Éireann, the fog will clear as the morning continues and brighter, sunny spells will develop.
However, a band of showery rain will spread northward from the southwest and there will be a risk of heavy, thundery outbursts in Connacht as well as further rain in Leinster.
Ulster should stay mostly cloudy with patch rain and rizzle.
Temperatures will be quite mild in most areas – with highs of 14 Celsius in places, but it will be lower in places in Ulster, with temperatures not exceeding 10 degrees.
Tonight will be dry early but fog and misty rain will form later. Minimum temperatures will be 1 to 4 Celsius.
